Coffee Beanstro

Tried the Coffeebeanstro at Marina Bay one day for breakfast!

Lol just a random picture of our teas. It was a breakfast set so our teas came with it.

I ordered the Buttermilk Waffles cuz I wanted something sweet. Yummy waffles! I love that it's thick, and that its crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. I think one of the best waffles I've eaten. Love the cream they gave too, wish they gave more! This is also served with maple syrup.

This is the Beanstro Breakfast Plate. A large amount of eggs to fill you up, with butter slathered baguette, mushrooms, sausages and bacon. I tried everything except the mushroom because I don't eat mushroom. Everything tasted fine, though the eggs could have been more buttery.

Go there for the nice ambiance. I felt rather touristy there. Service was good, but maybe it was because of the slow morning.

Delifrance

Hi all! I'm gonna talk about Delifrance today!

Actually, this post consists of my two visits there, with different people by the way. The first was with my mom and sis. My entire family (with the exception of my father) adores delifrance. Heh we're just bread people!

The second visit was with my friend. When she said that she hasn't eaten at Delifrance before, I made up my mind to introduce her to Delifranceeeeeeeeee. Bread Is Good ;D

Well for the visit with my mom and sis, my mom had this baked potato with seawfood below. I do so love a good baked potato. The potato is thoroughly cooked, with the skin easy to peel. Plus Delifrance gives this bacon thingy, giving it a crunchy texture.

Haha eh don't judge k. Was feeling peckish, so just ate the salad with chicken topping. Hehe love the chicken mayo. Not exactly diet friendly but OH WELL.

Well... We added a few bucks to get the soup. My advise? DON'T. The soup is just atrocious. Even my instant Campbell soup tastes nicer >:( Was just so watery and tasteless.

My sister actually had the baked potato with chicken. I don't know how come there isn't any picture of it :O but I know how it tastes still! Hahahha, it tasted just as good as the seafood one ;) In fact, my mom was commenting that the baked potatos at Delifrance tastes nicer than Wendy's.

My sister was like "of course la ma, you compare the price..."

Haha! Yeah true that. But of course if you're looking for Cheese, Wendy's cheesy potato wins hands down.

Okay the next few pictures are of my second visit. Because it was my friend's first visit, I thought we'd try the new sandwiches. The website says to try the "signature sandwich experience from France". HAH MY FOOT LA.

So this sandwich has this pretentious name of "Le Saint-Michel". Sigh, pretentious name to attract gullible suckers like yours truly -_-

Basically this piece of baguette has smoked salmon, this weird green knot thingy, and a wedge of lemon. THATS ALLLLLLLLLL. And to make it worse, the baguette was hard. My friend must be scarred for life :(

The below is the baked potato with seafood which tastes fine thank god.

Okay so remember, next time you do Delifrance, don't order the new sandwiches k! Stick with the old ones. Anw, I find the Delifrance website very irritating and lacking of information indeed. I mean... I'm confused which has the real food etc. The one at Toa Payoh sells pasta, baked rice etc, but the Raffles Place one doesn't. Why can't they just state it on their website!

Plus I heard that Delifrance has a buffet breakfast of croissants and pastries, but it isn't stated anywhere on the website. Anyone knows anything about this?

Gosh my eyes are closing already, hehe goodnight all.

Fish Manhattan

Hi everyone!

As you know, Fish Manhattan came up with new food to try! Woo~ I love trying food hahaha, I wish I can have a spoonful of food, then try other food. I think I just love food, so it's difficult for me to limit myself to a dish o.o

So anyway! My mom, sister and I decided to dine there for lunch one day. My mom and I had the 1-for-1, while my sister ordered something from the menu.

Mediterranean Baked Fish

My sister had this. Tasted it and there was a mild herb taste. It's not a strong taste, because I don't like herb tastes, but I was fine with this! It's more of a subtle taste with a tinge of spiciness, and the fish texture was nice to eat! The rice was as usual the garlic herb rice, which was rather nice :)

 spicy baked rice

Spicy stuff! The fish, that is. Haha yep, spicy fish, so only order this if you like spicy stuff!

Spicy seafood sea-esta

Hehe I do like my puns. Siesta, sea-esta, got it? Lol. Anyway, I had this, because I wanted something light. And something spicy for spicy-eaters! I love my chili, but this had me drinking two glasses of lemon tea. Oh oh, only order this if you eat all those scallops, mussels etc. I don't and I totally wasted them :( They had LOTS of carrots inside which surprises me because golly, I didn't know that carrots were from the sea.

So for the one for one, for $19.90, you get two main courses, 2 soup of the day and if you add $1.90, you get refillable drinks! Worth it, I'd say. And the salad comes at 50% too :D

So yeap! Yummy, but spicy lunch indeed.

Asli Village

I think I've mentioned before that my father haaaaaates driving to places that he doesn't know how to drive to. I don't know, maybe he imagines that we'll end up at Malaysia somehow (bet my mom would love that). Thus we rarely get to try eating at eateries that are further away. But anyway! That day, we went out with my sister and brother-in-law to Tampiness Ikea. After shopping and praying, we went to Asli Village for dinner! :D

Though there was a crowd, there were a lot of seats provided, thus finding a seat wasn't hard at all. I was starving that day, on the account of not having eaten for 10 hours due to a dentist visit earlier that day. Walked around and I thought that the mee goreng that people were eating looked nice!

The picture below is the stall where I bought my food from. (Coincidentally, everyone in my family decided to buy food from the same stall)

This above is my father's mee bandung. He said it was good. To me, it lacked the spiciness that usually comes with the mee bandung.

I think this is supposed to be kway teow seafood. My sister was disappointed in it, because she didn't feel that it tasted that nice.

Hahaha char kway without the mayo. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE RIGHT :( They said that they ran out. And the char kway was kinda hard to bite!

My mee goreng. I'm sure you all have tasted mee kuah right? Well this tastes like mee kuah, without the abundance of gravy.

The satay which my parents have already ate, that's why the picture looks rather pathetic. Sweet gravy eurgh!

Ummm I forgot what this is. Heh. Was my brother in law's one which I didn't taste, so I can't tell you if it's nice or not!

Anyway, I felt that the food there wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. Had high hopes for the place due to the crowd and the name. I mean, doesn't the name "Asli Village" inspire some confidence that the food there would be bombastic? Still, the atmosphere there was rather nice, and I wouldn't mind giving the place another try!

They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seating is from 0800-0100, and the outdoor is 24 hours.

Sakura & Coffeebean-stro

Hi everyone! I realise that I keep posting about the food at Sakura, but that's my main go-to food when at Far East! Heh. This time, we went there because my pregnant sister was craving for the kway teow there.

Tom yum fried rice

Crispy egg noodle

Fried wantan

Beef kway teow

Well, I shan't bore you with descriptions of the food, since I've blogged about this place many times. Food good, service good, and no service charge! :D Anyway, I noticed that they had another branch of this next door. I inquired about their difference, and was told that the next door Sakura sold nasi padang. Cool, maybe I'd try that next time!

Later on, we decided to have desserts. Taka recently opened another branch of Coffeebean there, but this branch is different!

It's called Coffeebean-sto.

Okay don't laugh but it took me awhile to get that pun. For those who are as slow as me, bean-stro is just a play of the word bistro. Coffeebean-stro sells more variations of lunch more than the other branches, and is more like a restaurant than a cafe. They even sell steak there :O

Hehe I so wanna go back there and try their lunch stuff.

The above cake is mine. Okay I forgot the name but it has peach + white chocolate cheesecake + meringue inside. Didn't quite fancy it though BECAUSE ITS SO SWEET :( I'm a rather cake person myself, I looooove my cakes, but urgh this was a disappointment.

My mom's custard tart or something. It looked tempting in the display! But my mom told me the crust was hard in some places. I tasted the custard, and it tasted rather blah too.

My sister's Opera Cake. Was like a normal opera cake. Never did like it much, so whatever I say may be bias.

I can't wait to go back there again. The service was superb with all the staff being so attentive and polite. Good place to dine and chill, I must say :)

Cahaya Murni

Hi everyone!

Hahahah at this rate, I don't know who "everyone" is. Is it possible that I even have any loyal readers who read my every post? (that does not include anyone who knows me in real life). Well, if I do have one, do please signal your existence to me somehow.

Anyway! Having started our internship, I rarely get to see my beloved poly friends often! Headed down to Far East to meet everyone in the evening for dinner together. My friend mentioned going to Cahaya, at FEP. I'm not sure how she knew of the place actually. As for me, I've eaten there a fair bit.

When we arrived, the shop person was a tad overzealous in ushering us in. He was like "don't just stand there, blah blah blah, come sit down". Please note that he didn't actually said blah blah blah. I just forgot what he said :D Either way, I remembered thinking that it was a little bit rude for him to say that. Ah well.

Sat down and was given the menu promptly. As usual, among friends, it takes everyone ages to decide. The shop person kept coming twice and thrice to take our orders but we still weren't ready. Haha! At least they were attentive.

When we were finally ready to order, the person came promptly, which is a plus point! He tried to sell us his tom yam soup, which my friend got in the end. (Will continue about this below).

The picture above is my wantan mee! I ordered dry, and I'm not sure if their dry is just...wet, or the person misheard me. Didn't quite like the wantan though, and the mee was in clumps. Still, it was about 3bux, so, it fits the price!

Ohhhhhhhhhh. This was the tom yam soup. My friend wanted the ramen one.. But erm, you can all see that it looks like maggi right? Everyone else said the soup was spicy, but I found it meh.

Hotplate rice, crabmeat. The gravy was tomato-ey, and well, if you like tomato based gravy, you'd love it. If not, then, meh.

Claypot noodles, chicken. The gravy was like more to kicap kind of taste.. Didn't really like it.

I think... This is dry hor fun, black. Didn't taste this, but my friend who ate this had no complaints.

U-Tiao. If this were to taste bad, then the restaurant must have serious problems. Would have wanted more mayo though! This is the $3 plate.

Sweet and sour chicken. This is the $8 plate, which is the least amount. I must say, for an $8 plate, the quantity of the chicken was VERY LITTLE. Was rather shocked at the quantity. I guess it looks a lot in the picture, but do remember that this is a close up.

Another bone to pick with was the ice milo my friend ordered. When it came, the colour was like the colour of.......... very very milky tea. The milo was WAY diluted. Come on lah, the color is so obvious, and you serve it, what does that say about your honesty as a  food server? I went to return it for my friend, and when it came back, it was LESS diluted, but STILL diluted. Sigh.

Wow, when I started this post, I had no idea how bad the food was that evening. But we were all so ravenous that everything tasted good, and all so happy to see each other that nothing felt bad that evening :)

I used to come to this place to eat quite often. Hopefully that evening was just an off day, and not the fact that their standard has seriously dropped.

Breakfast at Plaza Singapura

Wow it's been damn long since I ate this and I haven't blogged about this. This is Swensen's breakfast! :)

Honestly, I was pretty excited to try them out. The pictures looked awesome and the descriptions were pretty persuasive. But as we know, english has a flowery language that more often than none, beautifies even the simplest things.

Classic french toast with honey buttercream

Tasted fine, especially when it was hot. The honey buttercream was simply...butter. Disappointing, really! Can't stand mushrooms so my friend ate them up for me.

Oh yeah, there was some promo in groupon that we bought so we got coffee/tea AND fruit juice.

Smoked salmon eggs benedict

My friend didn't like it because of the sour-y taste. I ate it anyway because I like salmon so much, and I could ignore the sour taste. Not really something we enjoy!

Went to the Plaza Singapura outlet, and the service was meh too. The food came late, and by then we were starving. Mine came so much faster, and I was half done (and I'm a slow eater) with my food when the other dish came. Meh!

HongKong Dessert

My friend and I were randomly walking around Ang Mo Kio at the Jubilee Square when we saw a........halal establishment serving dimsum *gasp*

I mean... It's not like I've never eaten halal dimsum before (Tang Tea House), but it was just so unexpected to randomly see one at AMK. Anw! Because I am expected to eat dinner at home, we shared these two dishes in between us.

 Durian shake with durian flesh

The durian flesh was really durian I think. Well, it did taste good and durian-y!! Though the shake surrounding it wasn't really milkshake texture (read: thick), it was nice to consume during a hot day. Oh yes, btw this place has aircon.

 BBQ chicken tart/pie thingy

Yes I admit that I forgot the name of this thingy heh. Well it tasted quite nice anw, and my chinese friend said it tastes quite authentic (Read: pork ones), which actually made me glance at the halal cert to double check. Lol.

Anyway, the place is beside popeye, and it's reeeeeally small, so I'm not sure how it's like during peak hours. Went there during non-peak hours and there was nobody. Total bill for this, $7plus. (The durian dish costs about $5plus. What do you expect from a durian dish!)

Coffeebean

Had a quiet mom and I time this Saturday morning where we went Coffeebean for breakfast. It is an all day breakfast btw, so you don't have to get up early to rush down to eat. Now, I'm not one to turn her nose down at macdonalds or kfc or ljs or bk breakfast. I loooooooooooove fastfood breakfast. But we all know how unhealthy they are! Sooo I turned to coffeebean hoping they'd be healthier.

Okay, I don't know how healthy they are, but they sure are yummy!!

My mom had the salmon and egg scramble. There is a side serve of salad, which has the regular lettuce and tomato PLUS cranberries and almonds! I LOVE IT. Heh. And yeah the salmon was smoked, and of course, what scrambled eggs doesn't taste delish :)

I ate my eggs benedict. Freaking awesome with the hidden cheese in between the bacon and the bagel. Only wished that the egg yolk would be softer so that it would "break" on the bread. But oh well! Still nice :)

I'm a cake lover. Heh. Got my mom to share a cheesecake with me. This a is a granola cheesecake! They have nuts and raisins inside, so you don't get muak (sick) fast. I love cakes :D

Haha yeah that's all to the post. Don't think I have to leave you any info about this place, seeing as it's COFFEEBEAN.

Ta~!
