Ikea at Tampiness

For someone who went to school near the Ikea at Queensway, I've often heard about the raving reviews of the meatballs there. So when I heard that the Ikea at Tampiness was halal, I was so super excited to go!  After weeks of waiting to go there, (school, sigh), I finally managed to go today. Got a little lost though getting to the ikea though, haha!

Anyway, reaching there, I was disappointed to see the sign "halal food at lane 3". Should have done more research about this! AND, I was even more disappointed to see the lack of variety of food that is Halal. I've seen more variety of food in my primary school canteen stalls.

Ordered the kid's meal of Cheese Croquettes, Meatballs and Nasi Padang.

$2.90
These are the Cheese Croquettes. Fries looks good from here right? Took a first bite of it.... And winced. The fries were cold, some were hard and the others were soggy. They tasted like fries that had been left overnight. Sigh disappointment #3.

However, the redeemable quality of this dish were the cheese croquettes. They are actually potatoes with a hint of cheese in them. These were lukewarm and still crispy to eat, so they were good.

 $5.40 for 10

These are the halal meatballs!  They were thankfully lukewarm also. What I liked about this dish is the sauce. It had some sort of creamy taste to it, only wished that they drenched the meatballs with it! The meatballs were so-so, and surprisingly easy to chew though. Was very hard towards the end of the meal when they were cold though. The potatoes were... Let's put it this way, more sauce would have been appreciated so that the lumps of potatoes could soak in it with the sole objective of becoming softer.

 $4.50

The Nasi Padang my friend had. I must say, I've never tasted this kinda rice before. Because even in camps, the rice had taste, was soft to chew and hot! The rice I has were really cold and the grains were hard.

The chicken wings seems to be really popular here. Saw somebody bought 6 of them in one plate itself. Tasted the chicken, and well, not bad I suppose. Although it definitely doesn't warrant a visit back.

Dining in Ikea, what do you expect, but an innovative way of carrying things. This trolley can fit up to 3 trays. So you don't have to balance all your dishes precariously on one tray! Just push :D

The signs requesting people to clear up. Haha funnily enough, with signs like this, there were still many workers surrounding the place, waiting for people to leave.

So, I guess though Ikea remains my favourite place to walk around to look at furniture (and wishing I could buy them), it would never be a favourite place to eat.

Total cost: $12.80 (without drinks)
Venue: Tampiness Ikea
